Vermont-NEA Scholars' Bowl
Vermont's high school academic competition for more than a quarter century.

Welcome to the home of competitive academics in the state of Vermont! Scholars' Bowl is a question-and-answer academic game played by teams of high school students. This season, schools from around the Green Mountain State will loock to unseat defending championship Hanover High School and earn the right to represent Vermont in national competition.
 

The Hanover team poses with the trophies after defeating South Burlington, 240-180, in the state championship game at Champlain College on March 26. It was the third state title in four years for the Marauders.

Thirteen schools are set to compete for the Vermont state championship after five rounds of playoff matches narrowed the field at Montpelier H.S. on Feb. 4. South Burlington ran the table to claim the top seed and a bye into the semifinals. Burlington, CVU, Hanover and Middlebury posted 4-1 marks to reach the quarterfinals where they will be joined by the survivor of the Medlar Cup teams that went 3-2: Burr and Burton, Essex, Mt. Abraham, Mt. Mansfield, Mount St. Joseph, Rice, Spaulding and St. Johnsbury. The finals are March 24 at Champlain College.

TOURNAMENTS UPCOMING AT SPAULDING, HANOVER:
* Spaulding High School in Barre will play host to the sixth annual Vermont NAQT Championship after school on Friday, Feb. 10. Using NAQT questions, this event is open to all Vermont schools, with schools initially limited to a maximum of two teams. The entry fee is $15 per team. To register or for more information, contact Kevin Commo.
* The inugural Open Academic Tournament at Hanover (OATH) will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, at Hanover High School. The tournament will feature 8-10 rounds with questions written by the University of Minnesota's quiz team. Fee is $30 for the first team and $25 each for additional teams.
